Saturday March 11th at 10AM. Session is 80 minutes

Two sessions will be running:

Youth ages 12-17

Adult 18+

Adult Clinic - Break throws / Marking
Intro - Importance of faking and the keys to a proper fake
- Look like a real throw
- Step all the way out
- Snap your wrist at the end of the fake
Warm-up - get into partners and throw 20 flicks and 20 backhands with a full fake on the
opposite side before the throw
Drill #1 - 3-man
- Demonstrate lunging instead of leaning
- Staying balanced and above your centre of gravity
- Watching for release points
- For the throw, using fakes to make the person move their feet / get off balance
Drill #2 - Endzone break drill w/ Rush player mark
- Multiple iterations for lots of reps
Drill #3 - Endzone break drill w/ Rush player throwing
- Multiple iterations for lots of reps
Mini-tournament - Break into 4 groups each with a Rush player coach. 3 game round robin, 8
minutes each. Final game + consolation game after.

 

Youth Clinic Age 12-17 - Advanced Throwing Techniques

Hammer technique
- Same grip as flick
- Arm motion similar to football throw - cock back behind head, lead with elbow, follow
with rest of arm and snap wrist to finish
- Release point varies based on obstacles in the way
- No obstacles, release point in front of face for speed of delivery
- Yes obstacles, release point above crown of head for height
- Snap wrist hard for maximum spin in order to keep shape
- Angle the disc so that it drops properly at the target
Scoober technique
- Same grip as flick / hammer
- Different arm motion - across the body chop instead of cock back and throw
- Spin still a key component of disc shape stability
Same partners, 20 hammers, 20 scoobers
Angling the disc on backhands / flicks
- With enough spin, disc will hold the same angle as the release angle
- Can be used to avoid obstacles
- Can be used to accommodate for wind direction
Pop passes - throwing a high release backhand
- Spin the disc by open up wrist while throwing the disc upwards
- Maintain flatness of the disc until release
Introduce Ninja throwing circuit
- 10 straight flicks
- 10 straight backhands
- 10 OI flicks
- 10 OI backhands
- 10 IO flicks
- 10 IO backhands
- 10 hammers
- 10 scoobers
- 10 pop passes
- 10 offhand throws
